Resistgard - UV Blocking Light Shield

Resistgard light shields are the cost-effective answer for the protection of common semiconductor photoresists and other types of photo emulsions from UV Light. Our Gold Shields are specially formulated, reusable protective shields (sleeves) that hold back all light from 0 to 520 nanometers when placed over any cool-white fluorescent tube. This affords better protection against UV light than do the standard gold fluorescent tubes, and yet give a “whiter” light and up to 50% more illumination.

Resistgard Gold Shields come in a variety of standard sizes in two colors (White & Gold), with special sizes available upon request. Polypropylene end caps allow metal lamp ends to be exposed for a perfect fit even in tandem fixtures.

Resistgard is made of dye-impregnated polycarbonate, a high-molecular weight, low-crystalline engineered thermoplastic with exceptionally high impact strength over a wide temperature range. Polycarbonates are noted for their excellent combination of toughness, heat and flame resistance and dimensional stability. The purpose of using Resistgard ranges from use in semiconductor lithography processes to guarding dairy products from UV exposure. Other uses include blocking UV light from food products, bio medical research experiments, UV sensitive experiments, and many more. Features:

Long Life - Actual aging tests of RESISTGARD® over fluorescent tubes have shown there is no apparent deterioration or darkening of the sleeve over an 8-year life. Guaranteed, in proper use, for five years.
High Impact Strength; Thermal Stability - Polycarbonates are noted for their excellent combination of toughness, heat and flame resistance and dimensional stability. Generally, they are unaffected by grease, oils, and acids.
OSHA Approved - Polycarbonate tubes are approved by OSHA as a safe covering for fluorescent tubes; most other plastic materials manufactured with styrene, acrylics, and other compounds, are not.
Maintenance: Washes with plain soap and water

Sizes (nominal feet): 2’, 3’, 4’, 5’, 6’, 8’ and mid-connecters for T-5, T-8, and T-12 lamps. Special sizes are available upon request.
